All aboard — a vintage streetcar party

We won Muni's December charter lottery! We've reserved a historic streetcar all to ourselves for a private ride down Market Street, along the Embarcadero and out to Fisherman's Wharf and back.

Meet our streetcar

A 1928 "Peter Witt" tram from Milan, Italy

We almost chose a classic American PCC car — until Muni's charter team tipped us off: the Milan cars are the favorite for parties. Bench seats face each other down the length of the car and the big windows actually open, so the whole bay rolls in with the breeze.

Milan's three historic liveries — which will we get?
  • Born in Milan, 1928 — one of ~500 built; their sisters still carry passengers in Milan today.
  • An American idea — the "Peter Witt" design is named for a Cleveland transit commissioner who put the conductor mid-car to speed boarding.
  • SF's love affair began in 1984 — one Milan car visited for the summer Trolley Festival and ran so well Muni brought more over the Atlantic.
  • Built for this route — Milan cars arrived for the F Line's extension to Fisherman's Wharf, opened in 2000.
  • Car number TBA — the Streetcar Barn assigns our car closer to the day. We'll post it here.

San Francisco in December

Layers, and maybe an umbrella

Cool and breezy by the bay; December is one of our rainier months. A wrap or light coat is perfect.

Questions & Answers

When do RSVPs close?

Please reply by November 25 using your personal invitation link. You can update dietary needs any time before then.

Can I bring a guest?

Your invitation shows exactly who's included. If it says "and guest," we'd love to meet them.

Are children welcome?

[Couple to decide] — placeholder answer.

Is the ceremony unplugged?

Yes — please keep phones tucked away for the 20-minute ceremony. Our photographer will capture it, and we'll share everything. Phones are very welcome at lunch.

Gifts?

Your presence is truly the gift. Please don't bring gifts to City Hall — security screening limits bag sizes.

I'd rather not appear in shared photos.

Totally understood — tick the box in "Update your details" on your personal link and we'll keep you (and your kids) out of anything shared.

Is everything accessible?

Yes. City Hall has step-free entrances on Grove and McAllister and elevators to the fourth floor; Waterbar is step-free from the street.

Who do I call on the day?

Text our day-of line at (xxx) xxx-xxxx — we'll also send any updates by text that morning.
